19th – 22nd June marked the Africa Energy Forum’s 20th anniversary, and our CEO, Norman Moyo, CFO Nigel Mangwiro, and Commercial Executive, Andrea Duffin, were there to represent Distributed Power Africa. To celebrate the energy community’s achievements with the theme, “Reflections on the last 20 years,” the conference was held in Mauritius with over 2,000 senior-level representatives, comprising members of governments, utilities, regulators, power developers, policy makers, and other decision-makers at the highest levels.

According to the website, the conference attendees learned where the next project opportunities lie for solar, wind, hydropower and geothermal, and found out which countries, companies and individuals lead the field. They also discovered the relationship between on-grid and off-grid projects and technologies. There were other topics open for discussion, including project financing, ministerial addresses, and focuses on countries and regions. Norman Moyo was a panellist on Wednesday, 20th June, from 09:15 to 10:15 on the Tech Talks: Technology and Energy Efficiency in Africa Panel. Our contribution at the conference was about shaping the landscape and the narrative of power in Africa as well as the opportunities for solar, distributed power, and power as the cornerstone of economic development.

Norman Moyo had the following to say at the conference: “We make your buildings smart by bringing renewable energy and efficiencies with our technology-enabled IOT business. You can focus on your business and let us manage your power.” He also added, “DPA tackles Africa’s problems through bringing Telecoms to Africa for communication, fixing energy as an enabler of economic development. We are also addressing health issues through our IOT business which looks at proactively managing blood pressure and diabetes.
